A major contributor to the independent Hip Hop scene for a decade, Cage (aka Cage Kennylz) returns with a greatest hits CD comprised of his classic singles, most notably “Agent Orange”, which sampled the theme from Stanley Kubrick’s film A Clockwork Orange; tracks off his two Eastern Conference Records albums, Movies For The Blind, Weatherproof both of which sold over 20,000 copies; collaboration efforts, and previously unreleased tracks.

Known for not only his music and legendary beef with Eminem , but also his life story.
Many of his lyrics were inspired by his experiences in a mental institution as a teenager. The Best and Worst of Cage is comprised of 19 tracks fueled with energy, angst, and top notch production. (more…)

EPMD - We Mean Business (2008)

They are rap’s first great duo, one that excelled as rappers and producers. They are among the most-sampled rap acts of all time, their tunes having been mined by Jay-Z, DMX, 2Pac and Tha Alkaholiks, among many others.Then they broke up and reunited to rave reviews. The group is EPMD (Erick and Parrish Making Dollars” later “Erick and Parrish Millennium Ducats) undisputed legends in the rap game.
Now, after more than 20 years in the game and 6 albums, EPMD returns with We Mean Business, their first album on their own EP Records. The new collection is a testament to their Business plan.

“All of our albums have Business in the title,” Smith explains. “Now that we’re in a new era and the game is changed, we realize that it’s different from when we handed in a CD to our first label to being at Def Jam. Erick and I created our own vehicle to be able to drop this album. That’s how we came with the title We Mean Business, because we do.”

“It’s very important for us to stay us,” Smith adds. “People want to hear and see EPMD.” That’s because We Mean Business isn’t just an album title for EPMD. It’s a mindstate. (more…)

The Beatnuts - Watch Out Now (1999)

The Beatnuts are a New York-based group and production duo from Queens. Its current members are JuJu (Dominican) and Psycho Les (Colombian). They were originally a trio before Kool Fashion, now known as Al’ Tariq, left the group to start a solo career. The Mighty V.I.C. (Groove Merchantz, Ghetto Pros) was also a member of the Beatnuts’ production team for a while. This is Watch out now the famous hit from the 1999 album A Musical Massacre.
